The company has made changes to its structure in response to critism. These change do appear to have improved things, however divisions of the company continue to court controvesy attract severe and public censure . 

Over the years, L'Oreal as a company has grown substantially.  Though it got its start with good, reliable hair color, it soon realized that there was a future to be had in other cleansing and beauty care products.  From a start during the twenties that saw the company with three full-time chemists, it only took thirty years for it to grow to more than 100 chemists.  Thirty years after that, the number climbed to a thousand, and today, it boasts a research staff that has more than 2,000 members.  The name is known all over the world, and there are five research and development centers scattered all over the world.  Two are in located in France, one in Japan, one in China, and one in the United States, with an additional facility in the United States being planned.
